As part of the IFA event this week in Berlin, Acer is announcing its Predator 21 X, the industry’s first desktop replacement notebook with a curved display. The laptop is aimed at gamers without budget constraints and packs high-end gaming hardware, such as Intel’s 7th Generation Kaby Lake processors, two NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI and even a mechanical keyboard. The system can hardly be called a mobile computer because it is very large and heavy, but it still comes in clamshell form-factor and can be transported relatively easily.

We’re certainly fans of Robert Pattinson, mostly for his ability to move between roles in blockbusters and out-there performances in the likes of The Lighthouse. The actor is currently dealing with the stresses of being the new Batman, from scrutiny of his physique to having to field questions over previous comments that the Dark Knight isn’t technically a superhero. And with production now underway for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, he’s probably resigned to more debates over his suitability for the role of Bruce Wayne.

(1947-2006) Who Was Octavia E. Butler?Octavia E. Butler studied at several universities and began her writing career in the 1970s. Her books blended elements of science fiction and African American spiritualism. Her first novel, Patternmaster (1976), would ultimately become one of the installments in the four-volume Patternist series. Butler went on to write several other novels, including Kindred (1979) as well as Parable of the Sower (1993) and Parable of the Talents (1998), of the Parable series.

While we've written about Android's Camera2 API before, there was one notable aspect of the discussion that was missing. The missing piece was a discussion of the physical link needed to enable all of the controls that were previously discussed. This isn't necessarily complicated, but it does represent a potential pitfall for updates to current devices. In short, the current protocols for using an external ISP provide insufficient bandwidth to support the full feature set needed for the new camera API.
