Best Bubly Flavors, Ranked | Sporked
What’s the best Bubly flavor? The Sporked team snagged all the Bubly flavors we could find (where are you, Watermelon and White Peach Ginger?), cracked open the friendly cans, and ranked them all. If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to drink all the Bubly sparkling water flavors, I’m here to tell you all about that refreshing experience.
I come from a LaCroix house. Or, at least, I did before taking part in a taste test of all the Bubly flavors. After trying each Bubly flavor and finding the best Bubly flavor, I am a Bubly convert.
Let’s start with the packaging. It’s extremely pleasing, with its bold colors and bubbly design. And the pull tabs say hi! When was the last time a beverage greeted you? It’s a refreshing change—and a refreshing beverage. The bubbles are less aggressive than other seltzer waters, making it easier to gulp down when you’re thirsty. And, for the most part, the flavors tasted much more natural. “They taste like actual fruit water,” said Sporked writer Jordan Myrick. “If you checked into the White Lotus hotel, this would be the kind of thing you would find in the lobby.” High praise across the board.
That said, not every flavor was a hit. Here’s all the Bubly flavors, ranked from meh to amazing.
Bubly!
BlackberryTargetAmazonI was so excited for this flavor. Blackberry is an under-used flavor and it can be so good. A perfectly ripe blackberry is punchy and jammy with a balance of sugar and tang. Unfortunately, Bubly’s blackberry flavor smelled like artificial berry and tasted more like watered down grape cough syrup than blackberry. Try again, Bubly, please! I believe in you!

Blueberry PomegranateTargetAmazonBlueberry is a tough one. Even a perfect blueberry has a mild, floral flavor—hard to translate into a sparkling water. And I’ve never had a really good artificial pomegranate anything. This Bubly flavor smelled a bit too much like gum for me. “It has that ‘mixed berry’ flavor that I do not like,” said managing editor Gwynedd Stuart. Another swing and a miss in the berry category, Bubly.

PassionfruitTargetI LOVE passionfruit—even fake passionfruit. It’s one of my favorite LaCroix flavors. It’s a tropical flavor with attitude—a touch of bitterness and tang. But Bubly’s passionfruit flavor was far too subdued. “It’s a real whispery one,” Gwynedd noted.

StrawberryTargetAmazonIf you worshipped at the altar of strawberry-kiwi in the ‘90s, then this is the best Bubly flavor for you. It might say “strawberry” on the can, but it has definite strawberry-kiwi Snapple vibes. It’s quite delicate and very pleasant. It just doesn’t have enough of a punch to make it any further up the ranking.

LimeTargetAmazonHello, lime Jell-O! This Bubly flavor smells just like a packet of lime Jell-O powder. That’s not a bad thing. The flavor is bright and vibrant and, most importantly, it doesn’t taste like cleaning fluid like so many other lime-flavored beverages.

Coconut PineappleTargetAmazonI loved this Bubly flavor. It smells like a vacation—a mix of sunscreen and Pina Coladas. It’s definitely coconut heavy, though, so if you aren’t a coconut head, this isn’t the best Bubly flavor for your fun-hating palate. It’s not sweet. It’s almost a little bit savory, like coconut flesh rather than coconut water. If you like the coconut LaCroix, try this. It’s even better.

CherryTargetAmazonIf you, like me, believe that Cherry Coke is the best Coke you can possibly drink, then you will like this Bubly flavor. Cherry Bubly isn’t so much a water as it is a soda substitution. “It scratches an itch for a black cherry soda,” said Gwynedd. And it was her personal fave. So, if you’re the Gwynedd of your group, then you’ll want to stock up on the Bubly.

RaspberryTargetAmazonBlueberry and blackberry may have been misses, but Bubly’s raspberry flavor is a home run. It has so much of a bright, fresh raspberry aroma. The flavor is like raspberry sherbert. If you like a sweeter flavored seltzer water, this is the best Bubly for you.

MangoTargetAmazonI had high hopes for Bubly’s mango flavor and Bubly delivered. It has a ripe mango aroma and great, fruity mango flavor. It tastes like real mango—not mango candy. There’s a balance of sweet and acidic that keeps you coming back, sip after sip.

Bubly!
GrapefruitTargetAmazonHere it is, the best Bubly flavor. Was there ever any doubt? Grapefruit lends itself to seltzer better than any other fruit, and Bubly honors the sizable citrus with this take. It smells so good—like really good grapefruit soda. I want to wash my hair in the stuff. It doesn’t taste fake and it doesn’t taste sweet. It just tastes like a seltzer water with a generous squeeze of grapefruit juice. This is better than LaCroix Pamplemousse. There, I said it.
